Screw Centrifugal Impeller
Hidrostal invented and patented the screw centrifugal impeller by identifying the important benefits of combining the action of a positive displacement pump with the characteristics of a centrifugal pump. The result was the screw centrifugal impeller - the heart of the Hidrostal pump - providing a unique combination of benefits of real significance to all who select pumps for solids handling, viscous pumping, delicate handling or clog-free duties.
Impeller Processes
Many applications too arduous for other types of centrifugal pumps can usually be handled
by the Hidrostal screw centrifugal impeller. The impeller comprises a single spiral vane,
having large open passages, which makes a long slow turn from the axial inlet
to the radial outlet. The design provides optimum hydraulic performance giving:
High efficiencies
Steep and stable hydraulic curve
Non-overloading power curve
Low NPSH (The margin of pressure over vapor pressure, at the pump suction nozzle, is Net Positive Suction Head).

Impeller Pumps
Hidrostal Screw Centrifugal Impeller pumps possess many charateristics which are of direct benefits to numerous industries we serve.
Excellent solids handling ability which makes the pump particularly suitable for handling, raw unscreened sewage which is heaviy laden with rags and fibre. Other solids handled without damage are whole fruits, vegetables and "live" fish.
Viscous handling capabilities beyond that of conventional sewage/sludge pumps which makes the screw centrifugal pump particularly applicable for sludge handling duties where dry solids contents of 4-8% are becoming common requirements.
Centrifugal Pump
Delicate handling permitting the pumping of return activated sludge without damage to the floc, crystalline slurries, whole fruit, vegetables and "live" fish.
Dewatering and raw water pumps. Hidrostal South Africa has already supplied large volume pumps for a river intake pump station (in excess of 500l/sec).
